The 27-year-old Nigerian chef, Hilda Effiong Bassey, also known as Hilda Baci, has spoken out after an event organizer threatened to sue her for publicly denying knowing about their planned event after allegedly accepting an advance payment of N3 million.
As you may recall, Hilda was criticized for charging N25,000 for a live cooking meet-and-greet scheduled to hold in Abuja on June 24.
The Chef denied having anything to do with the event, stating that she won’t be in Abuja. The organizer, Vibe by Ann threatened to sue her for denying knowledge of the event and accepting an advance payment.
Hilda Baci admitted that she had been paid the N3 million as the restaurant owner had claimed, but she claimed it was for an appearance at a performance she believed would feature other celebrities and events. Hilda Baci used Instagram live to defend herself.
The Celebrity Chef said that she left the event after realizing it was planned around her and chose to reimburse the planner, sharing a portion of their discussion as evidence.
She also said that if she held a meet-and-greet event for her followers, she would make it free and not charge admission.
