An undergraduate from Ekiti state, identified as Damilola Adeparusi, better known as Chef Dammy, recently completed a 120-hour cook-a-thon in an effort to surpass Hilda Baci’s record for the longest cooking time by an individual.
However, the attempt has received mixed reactions, with the majority criticizing her for not waiting for some time before attempting to break Hilda’s record. The Guinness World Record confirmed Hilda as the record holder for the longest cooking time by an individual on Tuesday, June 13.
In a video shared on social media, Maraji addressed the criticism and defended Chef Dammy’s attempt, stating that there is nothing wrong with it as life itself is a competition.
She pointed out that in various creative fields, such as music and comedy, individuals do not wait for others to achieve success before pursuing their own dreams.
Maraji countered the critics who suggested that Chef Dammy should have collaborated with brands or followed specific protocols like Hilda Baci did. She argued that such expectations were unfounded and expressed disappointment that the majority of critics were women.
She also cited examples of people from the same country who have broken records within 24 hours after they were set, emphasizing that the pursuit of records is a common practice.
