This was even as the association pleaded with the president and the ruling party to take up the cases of their members who are still battling to reclaim their ‘stolen’ mandates at their respective state tribunals.
The appeal was made by the Chairman of the coalition, Chisom Dike when he addressed journalists in Abuja on Friday.
“We appeal to Mr. President to capture the interest of the House of Rep candidates that couldn’t make it through during the election but are ready to contribute their expertise to his administration’s successes through government patronage.
We are a congregation of APC candidates who stood for Election but were not declared elected Members of the Green Chambers by INEC. We however seek support of the party leadership to support many of the APC candidates currently in tribunals to reclaim their stolen mandates,” Dike said.
The lawmaker from Rivers State, who wore a long face, while addressing newsmen bemoaned that it will be unfair for the ruling party and the president to discard them after working so hard for their victories.
He noted, “We gave our support during and after the election. But the APC as a party has withdrawn from supporting the candidates who lost in states. But we as candidates are not here to bicker. Are we happy with the responses or support from the party? But whatever the case, we are still loyal to the APC and most importantly, we support the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
“We believe as a party person, he will look into this problem and see how to bridge the gap to ensure everybody is carried along. That is the essence of this press conference because we know even the ruling party and the president may not be aware of our plight.”
The coalition chair also appealed to the masses to be patient with the president, who he said, has started his governance on an impressive note.
He was also quick to add that the task of nation-building requires careful planning, consultation, and deliberate action.
“We commend the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his uncommon courage and decisiveness to remove the ‘Elephant in the Room’ – the fuel subsidy. It is our belief that the government means well for all citizens and will stop at nothing to ensure that our standard of living improves within a very short time.
“We, therefore, appeal to fellow Nigerians to exercise patience and allow the president the opportunity to fully unveil his policies and agenda for the nation,” the coalition stated.
