The former first lady of Ekiti State, Bisi Fayemi, marked her diamond jubilee in a grand manner on June 11, 2023.
A conference organised by an organisation called Sisterhood across Borders was held in honour of the sexagenarian on June 10 in recognition of her leadership journey. The event was held at Civic Centre on the Victoria Island area of Lagos State, and witnessed the turn up of many notable personalities, as well as family and friends.
The conference was packed with many interesting and enlightening activities. A group of dancers from the Ekiti State Ministry of Art, Culture and Tourism who were dressed in matching traditional attire sang songs of praises in honour of the birthday girl as guests made their way into the venue.
Veteran actress, Joke Silva, had a reading session on one of Fayemi’s books titled, The Heaven for Little Girls. There was also a display of African fabrics, a colourful performance by a group of traditional drummers, who thrilled guests to sonorous beats, and some elegantly dressed Ekiti women who sang special songs for the celebrant.
There was also a purple dinner party where guests excitedly danced and had fun on June 11, 2023. The dinner party involved lots of fun activities and was hosted by actress, Kate Henshaw.
Her husband, Kayode Fayemi, who was glued to her side for for most of the event gave a speech where he stated that he would not have been governor without the help of his wife.
The celebrant also had a thanksgiving service in church.
Some notable personalities who graced the events were the first lady of Ekiti, Olayemi Oyebanji; a wife of the Ooni of Ife, Ronke Ademiluyi; a former first lady of Osun State, Kafayat Oyetola, a former first lady of Kebbi State, Zainab Shikanfi-Bagadu, Erelu Abiola Dosunmu and Ibukun Awosika.
