The management of Osun State University, Osogbo, on Monday, said Governor Ademola Adeleke, has approved payment of bonuses to its staff to cushion the harsh effects of the fuel subsidy removal.
This was disclosed by the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Clement Adebooye, while speaking at the reception held in honour of the visiting Carnegie Fellows on the Carnegie Fellowship Programme and the multi-million Euros Erasmus Lump-Sum Non-EU-Africa grant recently won by the University and her global partners.
He added that the event was also to receive partners of UNIOSUN scholars, Prof. Olukoya Ogen and Prof. John Agbonifo, that won 7.8m Euros ERASMUS Lump Sum NON-EU-Africa Research Grant for the project titled, ‘The European Union and Africa in a Multi-Crises World.’
On the effects of the subsidy removal on the staff, Adebooye said, “We want to thank the governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke for approving the payment. We have since paid the palliative. We paid each junior staff N20,000, each middle-level career staff paid N25,000, senior staff got N30,000 then the most senior staff were paid N40,000.’’
