The group, while commending the president for spreading the appointment across the country’s geo-political zones, stressed that the action of Tinubu is a testament to his commitment to tackling crimes and ensuring peace reigns across the nation.
The President, on Monday, retired all the service chiefs and announced their replacements.
Reacting, the group’s national chairman, Olaposi Oginni in a statement on Tuesday said the appointment shows President Tinubu is ready to use all available forces across the country in fighting insecurity and economic sabotage.
Oginni noted that the appointment indicated that Tinubu has good plans for the country and would carry everyone along.
He said, “Tinubu had made a daring move toward national reconciliation. If you look at the background of the new service chiefs appointed by the president, you will discover that Tinubu is living up to the promise of giving us a better Nigeria.
“President Tinubu has promised to unite the country, and from this appointment, we can see that he is committed to proving everyone wrong that he is not a religious or ethnic bigot.
“This appointment is unequivocal evidence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s resolve to bring the nation together. He inherited a nation that was unprecedentedly divided. However, Mr. President so far has given Nigerians optimism that good things are on the horizon.”
Oginni also commended the appointment of Major General Taoreed Lagbaja as the Chief of Army Staff; Kayode Egbetokun as the acting Inspector General of Police, and Adeniyi Adewale as the acting Comptroller General of Customs.
He urged the newly appointed service chiefs to assist the president in the fight “against terrorism, kidnapping, and other criminal activities that have threatened the existence of the country.”
He further noted, “We know those appointed by the president are competent, but we are using this medium to urge the Yorubas among them to be dedicated and committed to serving the country.
“They should be able to prove to the world that they are really capable of bringing security to our dear nation. They need to be proactive in performing their primary responsibilities.”
