Dani Alves has declared that he is innocent of the rape allegation leveled against him.

The Brazilian defender, who defended his innocence in a published interview by daily newspaper La Vanguardia on Wednesday said he has a “clear conscience”.

The former PSG player who was detained in January in Barcelona after being accused of raping a young woman in late December has been remanded without bail for allegedly being a flight risk.

Speaking on his continuous detention, the one-time Barcelona defender said: “I have a really clear conscience regarding what happened that night in the bathroom of the VIP area of the Sutton nightclub,” he told La Vanguardia in his first interview since his arrest.
