Abbas said the appointments of Ribadu as NSA; Maj.-Gen. C.G. Musa as Chief of Defence Staff; Maj.-Gen. T. A. Lagbaja as Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral E. A. Ogalla as Chief of Naval Staff; Air Vice Marshal H. B. Abubakar as Chief of Air Staff; Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun as Acting Inspector-General of Police were “in the best interest of Nigeria and Nigerians.”
This is according to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Special Adviser to the Speaker on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, titled ‘Speaker Abbas Congratulates New NSA, Service Chiefs, Others.’
Abbas noted that he believed the appointments, which are subject to the approval of the National Assembly, would rejuvenate the security architecture in the country.
The speaker said the other appointments made by the President, such as that of Adeniyi Adewale as the Acting Comptroller General of the NCS, among others, would make the institutions work better.
Abbas lauded Tinubu for taking the bold decision, which he said would put the current administration on a sound footing.
The speaker urged the appointees to bring their many years of experience to bear in their new assignments “so as to turn things around in the security system.”
