Global streaming giant Spotify has ranked Rema and Selena Gomez’s ‘Calm Down’ as the No. 1 Afrobeats Song of All Time.
Spotify recently released its list of Top 10 Afrobeats songs of all time based on the number of streams on the platform.
Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ remix with American superstar Selena Gomez led the pack, followed by CKay’s ‘Love Nwantiti (Ah Ah Ah), which is at No. 2.
At No. 3 is CKay’s ‘Love Nwantiti’ remix with DJ Yo! and AX’EL.
British rapper Dave’s ‘Location’ featuring Burna Boy comes in at No. 4, while Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ (original version) completes the top 5.
At No. 6 is Wizkid’s ‘Essence,’ featuring Tems. Cameroonian star Libianca’s ‘People’ is at No. 7, while Burna Boy’s ‘Last Last’, Fireboy and Ed Sheeran’s ‘Peru’, and Wizkid’s ‘Essence’ remix featuring Justine Bieber and Tems are at numbers 8, 9 and 10, respectively.
Notable absentees from the list include Davido, Tiwa Savage, Kizz Daniel, and Olamide.
Spotify said Afrobeats stream consumption has gone up by 550% since 2017 (from two billion to 13.5 billion streams per year).
