Ahead of the 2023/24 season, English Premier League side, Nottingham Forest, have stepped up talks with Nigeria international Kelechi Iheancho as they look to bolster their attack.
The Tricky Trees held preliminary talks with the Leicester City striker last week and have put in place plans to finalize the deal real soon.
The 26-year-old joined The Foxes from Manchester City in 2017 for a reported fee of €27m and currently has a year left on his deal.
The Nigerian has asked to be released following Leicester’s relegation to the championship last season.
In his 206 appearances for the club, Iheancho scored 55 goals while providing 33 assists.
With just 12 months left to the expiration of his contract, Leicester, who are in need of cash, will hope to sell the Nigerians and recoup some of the money they paid to Manchester City for the Nigerian.
Should the deal go through, Iheanacho could potentially be a direct replacement for compatriot Emmanuel Dennis, who has been deemed surplus to requirement and put up for sale by the club.
