This was disclosed in a statement signed by the State Commander of the agency, Nnadi Chidi, to commemorate this year’s edition of the International Day Against Drug Abuse.
Giving a further breakdown of the successes recorded by the command in its fight against drug abuse, Chidi also said the illicit drugs seized during the period weighed about 4,776.38644 kilograms.
He explained that out of the 315 suspects arrested, 75 were briefly counselled and reintegrated back into their families, also noted that 70 others were successfully prosecuted and convicted.
He added that within the period under review, 3.3 hectares of cannabis farms were also destroyed at Owena.
The statement further read, “Within the last commemoration of June 26 till date, Osun State Command took a giant leap in curtailing the scourge of drug abuse and illicit trafficking in the State.
“A total of 315 suspects comprising two hundred and 279 males and 36 females were arrested for drug-related offences while the illicit drugs seized weighed 4,776.38644kg. It is also worthy of note that within the period of review, 3.3 hectares of cannabis farm was destroyed at Owena Area, Oriade LGA of Osun State.”
