Gunmen, on Monday, reportedly killed a yet-to-be-identified villager and injured another during an attack on the Magamin Kano village, in the Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
PUNCH Metro gathered that following the attack, the gunmen invaded the residence of the traditional ruler in the community, Bashir Abubakar, and kidnapped his wife and son to an unknown destination.
A source in the community, while expressing sadness over the attack, said the injured victim had been rushed to the Ningi General Hospital for prompt treatment.
The source explained that the assailants targeted the traditional ruler but he was able to escape, adding that his wife and son were unlucky as they whisked them away into a nearby forest in the Ningi community.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, could not be reached for confirmation as of the time of filing this report.
PUNCH Metro had reported that gunmen recently invaded the Kafin Lemo community, broke into shops and houses and carted away several valuables worth millions of naira.
During the invasion, the suspects reportedly shot one person in the leg.
It was learnt that the constant attacks in Ningi LGA had been throwing residents into a panic as they expressed fear over going about their businesses in various communities in the LGA.
Members of the community claimed that in the last month, gunmen who invaded a number of villages in Ningi LGA had killed two people and kidnapped many other persons.
They also said the kidnappers had collected ransom to the tune of about N50m from the families of kidnapped victims before they released the abducted victims.
