Ace actor Hafiz Oyetoro aka Saka has complained that Nigerians are no longer rushing to buy fuel even as it is now available.
His statement comes after a number of Nigerians decided to cut down on petrol use following the removal of fuel subsidy that caused the price of petrol to skyrocket.
In his usual comic manner, in a video while driving, the seasoned comedian quizzed Nigerians why it was so wondering if there was a problem.
He said: “Hello people! Petrol dey everywhere. Nobody wan buy petrol. Any problem?” before bursting into laughter.
Since the removal of fuel subsidy, the removal of fuel subsidy and the rise in prices, the average volume of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) aka petrol consumption in Nigeria crashed from 66 million litres per day (ml/d) to over 40 ml/d in June 2023 for several reasons
According to the Major Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN) Executive Secretary, Clement Isong, the drop was because customers adjusted their lifestyle.
He also noted the consumption declined by over 20% because the prices soared and Nigeria’s neighbours to whom it was illegally exported have resorted to alternative supply.
