A 21-year-old man, Jonathan Peter, has accused a yet-to-be-identified man of swindling him of his phone valued at N30,000 in the Ayetoro community, in the Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the suspect approached Peter and expressed interest in purchasing his phone.
After posing as a buyer, the suspect took Peter to a location in the Ayetoro community and while assessing the phone at the location, told Peter he wanted to get something at a nearby house and absconded with the phone.
Narrating the incident, Peter said, “We only worked for two months together. He wanted to buy my Infinix Smart 6 phone and he told me to follow him to his sister’s house in the Ayetoro community.
“When we got there, he told me to stay at a corner of the house till he would return because he claimed his sister was with her boyfriend and I could not follow him to the sister’s room.
“The phone was with him. I stayed outside. As he entered one corner, I didn’t see him anymore. I waited until I got tired and went into the house he entered to ask for him, but I was told that he just passed through the corridor of the house and was not staying in the house.”
Peter said he reported the case to the Vigilance Group of Nigeria, Ayetoro Unit.
Reacting, the commander of the vigilance group, who gave his name simply as Okeowo, said, “We went round the area to arrest the suspect but the victim could not point at the exact house.”
He assured that the suspect would be arrested and handed over to the policemen
