Adeyeye Adeola, also known as Chef Deo, a Nigerian chef, is currently attempting to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual after Hilda Baci.
Adeola’s cook-a-thon began on June 30, 2023, in Ondo State’s Ile-Oluji Local Government Area and is scheduled to end on July 6, 2023.
This achievement comes after another Nigerian chef, Adeparusi Damilola, also known as Chef Dammy, recently concluded a 120-hour cook-a-thon in the Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State with the goal of pushing the boundaries of culinary endurance.
Hilda Effiong Bassey, also known as Hilda Baci, currently holds the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon (individual), with a time of 93 hours and 11 minutes.
Her record-breaking attempt took place from May 11 to May 15, and she prepared over 100 pots of food in four days.
Following a thorough review of the evidence, the Guinness World Records officially recognized Hilda Baci’s achievement.
If Adeyeye Adeola completes his planned 150-hour cook-a-thon, he will break Hilda Baci’s record and set a new world record for the longest individual cooking marathon.
Hours after the commencement of the event, a Nigerian identified as Alakowe took to his media page to react.
He wrote “Another chef from Ile Oluji, Ondo State Chef Deo, commences her 150hrs cook-a-thon to break Hilda Baci’s current record. She has cooked for 5hrs 40mins now.”
