A popular guitarist, Ifiok Effanga, aka Fiokee, has said that he does not allow female fans distract him and separate him from his business.
In an interview with Sunday Scoop, Fiokee who has worked with artistes such as Tiwa Savage, Kizz Daniel and Flavour said, “Nothing separates me from my business. I don’t attach emotions to business. I don’t allow female fans distract me from business. I am a very focused guy. There is time for everything. I thank God for the wisdom to be able to handle the little fame I have. I am just starting. I thank God for where I am today. I have been here for over 15 years, and I am still in the industry.”
Emphasising the importance of guitars in afrobeats, the instrumentalist said, “Guitar is a very melodious instrument, and basic sound that can be used to drive the beat and the melody for a singer. The melody that comes from the guitar is very unique. Afrobeats artistes cannot run away from it. That is why many music producers depend on guitarists to be able to create melody direction for their beats. Magic Sticks and other top producers always have guitarists attached to their productions. I started way back in 2010, and I worked for Don Jazzy and D’banj. I also worked on Woju with Kizz Daniel.”
On his most memorable moments as a guitarist, he said, “I believe I am one of the first guitarists to break into the mainstream music industry. Before, guitarists, like most other instrumentalists, were only seen in churches or playing at bars. However, I took it to another level. I am a pacesetter.”
