Contrary to the widely circulated claim that he is 21, Crayon clarified in a recent interview with Hip TV that he is actually 24 years old and will be turning 25 this July.
During the interview, the Mavin signee emphasized that much of the information found on the internet is inaccurate.
He explained that he started schooling at a young age and finished secondary school early, which might have contributed to the inaccurate information about his age.
“What you see on Wikipedia sometimes is not accurate. For me, I started schooling at a very young age and finished my secondary school very young. So all of that [alleged age] is just what you see on the internet, man. I’m 24; I’m going on 25 in July. It’s crazy; sometimes you see some things that are not matching,” he said.
Just recently, Crayon revealed how he abandoned his pursuit of a university education to focus on music.
According to him, he gave up on obtaining a university degree after taking the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) five times.
“On the fifth try, I had already met Baby Fresh, who used to work at Mavin. Juggling school and music simultaneously is quite stressful in Nigeria. Music alone is demanding,” he said.
“So I sat down with my parents and told them, ‘Mom and Dad, I want to pursue music.’ I explained that it felt like my heart was leading me in that direction. My dad suggested that I give the fifth try a chance, and if it didn’t work out, I could pursue music.” He said.
