An alumnus of the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo, Dr Ademola Salami, has been appointed the seventh substantive provost of the college.
A statement by the college noted that Salami, who is in his late 50s, hailed from Saki Town in Oyo, adding that he joined the services of the College in the year 2002 as Lecturer III and rose to the position of Chief Lecturer in Oct 2017.
He would take over from Prof. K. O. Usman who had been in the helms of affairs of the College from 2015 to July 18, 2023.
In addition to a Doctorate Degree in Special Education (Learning Disabilities) from the University of Ibadan (2016), “Salami also holds an M.Ed. (1996), B.Ed. (1991) from the University of Jos. NCE, (1988) Special Education and Teachers Grade II (1984). Salami has several academic publications to his credit, two textbooks, 42 articles in learned journals, and 12 research works to his credit.
He had attended local, national, and international conferences where he presented scholarly papers.
“For instance, in the UK, he presented a paper titled, ‘Indigenous therapies for learning disabilities.’
It read partly, “He is a member, of the Nigeria Association of Special Education Teachers, a member, National Council for Exceptional Children, etc. He has bagged many awards in his area of specialisation as well as in leadership. He is happily married with children.”
