He said politicians who tried to shortchange the masses saw the consequences in the 2023 elections.
Ihonvbere, represented by his Special Assistant, Aisabora Edore, stated these on Monday during the formal inauguration of the Uhonmora Community Association, Abuja Chapter.
According to him, politicians in positions of authority that hoard government largesse meant for the masses were rejected at the polls.
Speaking further Edore noted that “Those who have the responsibility to ensure that the palliatives trickle down must understand that the fight they saw at the polls was as a result of the fact that those who are supposed to benefit from the largesse of government don’t also get it, so, if you do what you are not supposed to do in four years you will account for it.
“I am sure this time the House of Representatives is not a single party leadership; there are other opposition parties, so it is going to be a lot more robust and balanced this time and what we had in the 9th assembly.
Speaking on issues of sharing of committees in the House of Representatives which has always been with troubles from people who feel not satisfied, he elucidated that in any association and gathering of the people, there is no time you do anything and everybody will be happy with it. Somebody expects to be a speaker and he is not the speaker, tomorrow he is not going to be happy with what the speaker is doing completely. So if I want to be in a certain committee and I didn’t get it those who got it will be happy and those who didn’t get it will not be happy.
However, he added that it all depends on all the deliverables whether they have done the right thing or not.
While underscoring the importance of the inauguration, attributing it to a rare community development step towards achieving a common goal considering how people are committed to personal responsibilities due to the economic hurdles in the country, he added that it takes the spirit of growth of having the mindset together and discuss what will advance their interest.
“It is rare these days especially when people are even busier than having to carry out their responsibilities, the economy today doesn’t allow you to do anything for yourself or for you to relax even with people from your community or even other associations but when you have people who are committed to community leadership, growth, and development it doesn’t take whatever distance for them to come together and have to fellowship with each other, especially for a thing like this, it takes the spirit of growth of having that mindset to get together and discuss what will advance the interest of the communities,” he stated.
