He added that he was acting on the clients’ instructions to make criminal complaint against the above named suspects for alleged offences.
According Barr Giwa Amu in the said petition, affirmed that his clients’ were harassed, embarrassed between the 5th April, 2023 to the 9th June of July 2023, when the suspects led a gang of heavily armed thugs to invade his clients’ community, and viciously attacked innocent villagers wrecking havoc and destroying their properties valved over N20,000,000.
It was gathered that to perfect their sinister motive and hoist a tale of terror on them, the suspects came with over 40 thugs, armed with shot guns prohibited by law and shot sporadically with the intention to kill.
Part of the petition further stated that “We wish to further inform you that upon a personal visit to the community by our Chief A. G. Giwa-Amu, the community was deserted due to the various criminal assault and attack, which left many injured and some others in hiding for fear for their safety.
“That unfortunately, while our clients made complaint both at the Nigeria Police Station, Ketu and the Nigeria Police, Area N Command, Ikorodu, the suspects made counter-complaint to the Nigeria Police, Zone 2 Police Command, which cumulated in truncating the police investigation at the Nigeria Police Area N Command.
“That till date, the said suspects have continued their wanton destruction of farmland and threat to life and that in a dangerous twist, your officer, DSP Toyin Omosebi, attached to your Zonal Police Command, Zone 2, led some Policemen to our clients’ site and land at Erebe Ijebu, Off Ketu-Itokin Expressway, Epe Local Government Area, Lagos State, ostensibly under the guise of police investigation, shooting sporadically, injuring innocent persons and proceeded to arrest some farmers, hunters and local vigilante/security guards and charge them to court at the Magistrate Court of Lagos State, Bode Thomas, Surulere, Lagos, after keeping them in custody for over a week.”
He further explained that the DSP Toyin Omosebi and Niyi Adesanya (a.k.a. Alhaji White), who had led a group of over 40 thugs, have continued to criminally invade his clients’ farm site and proceeded to employ a surveyor to start demarcating the said land unlawfully.
To confirm his tale of terror and using his official position to commit acts against laws of the land, on Sunday, 17th July about 5:58am, DSP Toyin Omosebi again led 16 men to invade the house of our client, Oloja Olawunmi Samuel, at No. 56, Olorunsogo Estate, Adigbe, Abeokuta, Ogun State, and flagrantly brandished firearms releasing volley of shots but for the timely intervention of neighbours, who quickly raised alarm, DSP Toyin Omosebi and Niyi Adesanya (a.k.a. Alhaji White) had to flee with their gang of criminal invaders.
Based on the foregoing, the lawyer disclosed that his clients informed his Chambers that till date, “DSP Toyin Omosebi has continued to laid siege in the house of our clients, thereby causing the family trauma, as they fear that they are likely to be kidnapped in the guise of criminal investigation.
“That the family of our client, Oloja Olawunmi Samuel, have been distraught, embarrassed, scattered and psychologically vandalized by the unlawful actions of your DSP Toyin Omosebi, who is boasting of her connection with the top hierarchy of the Nigeria Police Force and consequently enjoys immunity for her unlawful conduct.”
The lawyer, Barr Giwa Amu, while appealing to the Chairman, Police Service Commission, the petition which was also copied to the Commander, Zone 2, AIG Mohammed Ari Ali and the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, to intervene and cause DSP Toyin Omosebi to refrain and stop abusing the law.
He also urged Chairman, Police Service Commission to use his good offices to cause a detail investigation into the matter with a view to bringing the suspects to justice and ensure justice is adequately served.
