The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Bayero, has charged the Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy, AIG Sadiq Abubakar, to always verify the character and conduct of police cadets before offering them admission into the academy.
The royal father gave the advice when the commandant paid him a courtesy visit at his palace in Kofar kudu, Kano on Wednesday.
According to him, the measure has become necessary, in order to ensure that only cadets, with good conduct were enlisted into the Police force, so as not aggravate the volatile security situation in the country.
To this end, the monarch appealed to the police boss to give priority to candidates recommended by the palace, assuring that their character and conduct had been verified by the palace after thorough screening.
The police boss told the Emir that his mission to the palace was also to commiserate with him, over the death of Abubakar Imam Galandanchi, in-law to the Emir of Bichi, Nasiru Ado Bayero.
He pledged that the academy would always do its best to ensure that impeccable characters are admitted into the academy.
