- The government of Anambra State has ordered the immediate closure of Blessed Wisdom Model School at Ide Drive, Federal Housing Estate, Onitsha over the flogging of a two-year-old pupil.
- The Commissioner for Education in the State, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, made the announcement on Saturday.
The Commissioner for Education in Anambra State, Ngozi Chuma – Udeh, has yet again demonstrated a high level of carelessness and unduly intimidation in the educational system of Anambra state as she did during the Year 2022 teacher’s recruitment exercise where she called a job seeker stupid, idiot, filthy and hooligans.
The Commissioner based on hear say shut down Blessed Wisdom Model School Onitsha claiming that the school flogged a child of 2years. The said closure of the school was done without investigations to ascertain the veracity of the claims by the child’s parents but instead the Commissioner chose to honor her family relationship with the said parents.
Investigation from independent Journalists revealed that the 2 year old pupil has never been flogged by the school teacher. There was no evidence to support the alleged claim.
More to that, when the parents of the child was invited to the police station after they reported the case, they refused to show up.
This is uncalled for, for a commissioner to take this drastic action over a School without conducting an investigation into the case. It’s indeed a failed decision by the Soludo Government.
