Nigerian musician, Kelly Hansome, was on Sunday walked out of the Imo State Forum meeting organized by the All Progressive Congress, APC, America chapter.
The US-based singer in a trending video on the internet was seen being escorted out of the meeting by the police for expressing his discontent with events in their home state of Imo.
Speaking in the video, the singer was captured saying “we are not going to vote for Hope Uzodinma.”
While addressing the altercation on his Instagram page, Hansome stated that certain politicians in Imo state, including Senator Athan Achonuwere, attempted to suppress his freedom of speech.
He wrote: “Trying to practice the suppression of freedom of speech in a country where there is respect for human rights is a dumb move. They called the police to escort me out and I left, honourably. No disrespect intended, just the truth. Everybody knows the truth.
“Senator Atan invited me to join the Imo State forum, apparently organized by APC to canvass for another four years of failure to do the needful. I’m trying to set the records straight about his statement on the insecurity issues in Imo State, he indirectly admitted that the government of Imo State was responsible for the insecurity in the state that took lives of our loved ones over there and has kept the whole state in fear and unrest.
“We have people living in Imo. So we get reports from them directly. Nobody should collaborate with anyone to destroy his own people, that is not ok.
“It would have been better to come clean, saying, we have failed you, so, what do we do to make things better starting from this moment? Not trying to fool us.”
