A total of 205 evacuees from Sudan on Friday arrived in the country.
They arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Pilgrims terminal, Abuja at exactly 12.15 pm.
Following the crisis which broke out in the country in April, a total of 2,518 stranded Nigerians were evacuated from the country in May.
The National Emergency Management Agency commenced a mop-up operation to bring those still stranded back to the country.
The first mop-up evacuation took place on June 24, 2023, when 125 stranded Nigerians arrived in the country.
However, the spokesperson, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, stated that the 205 evacuees comprised 45 children and 160 adults.
Balogun, however, said a total of 2,865 evacuees have arrived in the country.
It partly read, “A total of 205 evacuees which comprised 160 adults and 45 minors and infants were received by Federal Government Officials from NIDCOM, NEMA, Refugees Commission, Immigration, FAAN and Ministries of Foreign Affairs as well as Environment.
“As usual, they were profiled, fed, and provided transportation for them especially the majority going to Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, and Borno states.
“To date, a total of 2,865 evacuees have been transported back to Nigeria from the war-torn Sudan.”
