Ekpa made this known in a video shared on his Twitter handle on Sunday.
In the video, he said, “The reason for us not taking orders anymore from the DSS dungeon is to safeguard our leader. We want our leader to be safe, we want to exonerate our leader from anything that Biafrans will be doing for his own best interests.
“So any actions that Biafra people will be taking in Biafra land you don’t attach Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to it. Any actions that Biafrans will be taking in Biafra land for the freedom of Biafra, freedom of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and freedom of all prisoners of conscience you do not bring Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to it.”
PUNCH reports that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, on Friday, declared an end to all sit-at-home order in the South-East and any other proposed means aimed by the group at forcing government to release him from detention.
Kanu made the declaration in a handwritten letter authorised to his special counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, to be read out to journalists during a world press conference held in Enugu on Friday.
The IPOB leader unequivocally stated that anyone henceforth engaging in any sit-at-home in the region is no longer his disciple.
Kanu, in a written declaration dated July 24, 2023, which Ejimakor read, followed the refusal of a factional leader of the group, Simon Ekpa, to announce the cancellation and further declaration through his media platforms.
