The Chief Executive Officer of Pelican Valley, Dr Babatunde Adeyemo, has lauded the palliative framework designed by the President Bola Tinubu-led administration to ease the hardships faced by Nigerians, caused by the removal of fuel subsidy removal and unification of the exchange rate window.
inubu in a national broadcast on Monday, unveiled a N500bn palliative package for manufacturers, small businesses and farmers amongst others.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the President of the Yoruba Youth Assembly, Hon. Olarinde Thomas, and members of the coordinating team on Thursday in Abeokuta, the realtor described the proposed N75bn credit facility for 75 enterprises and the cumulative N125bn for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises at nine per cent interest per annum as an excellent and commendable initiative that would alleviate the suffering of private businesses.
He however urged the president to pay attention to the implementation to ensure the success of the intervention.
He said, “The recent approval by the president to distribute N75bn credit facility for 75 enterprises and the cumulative N125bn for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises at nine per cent interest per annum is a commendable initiative that would go a long way to alleviate suffering faced by Nigerians. However, I advise the president to ensure full implementation of the distribution to everyone and not to the pocket of a few individuals.”
Adeyemo urged President Tinubu to be meticulous with the implementation process and monitor it diligently lest the intended beneficiaries take the funds as their portion of the ‘national cake’ and scuttle the good intention.
He specifically advised Tinubu to inject young minds and people of integrity into his team to help drive his vision for Nigerians and implement, monitor and evaluate the palliative measures to ensure success.
Receiving the award as the “Yoruba Youth Humanitarian Icon” of the Year 2023, Adeyemo commended YYA for the award, saying the group is charting a new and better narrative regarding the way Yorubas treat their heroes and heroines.
He noted that the award serves as a “springboard” for him to do more for humanity, especially the weak and vulnerable and urged Yoruba youths to embrace integrity, patience, perseverance, and enterprising spirit and avoid getting rich quick impulses.
