Learners from underrepresented schools will win exciting prizes worth over N3m in the 2023 Kids Innovation Challenge.
A statement signed by the Kids Innovation Hub on Sunday explained that Kids Innovation Challenge 2023, an initiative of The Destiny Trust’s Kids Innovation Hub, aimed at empowering underrepresented children with technology and arts skills and bridging the digital divide.
The challenge promises exciting prizes including a laptop, cash prizes, tech-skills development courses, and one-year mentoring to support the winners to develop their innovation.
“The Challenge seeks to identify and nurture the genius in underrepresented children focusing on children from public schools or low-income private schools, as well as young secondary school leavers from low-income backgrounds across Nigeria. The Kids Innovation Challenge is an initiative of The Destiny Trust’s Kids Innovation Hub aimed at empowering underrepresented children with technology and arts skills and bridging the digital divide. The initiative makes skills learning possible for children through in-school pieces of training, afterschool classes, virtual classes, and an annual boot camp held in August of every year.”
It revealed that the Challenge’s application portal had gone live since 17th July 2023, adding that shortlisted applicants would be invited for an interview by 12th August 2023 ahead of the demo event in September 2023.
It read partly, “Seven shortlisted participants will pitch their innovative ideas before a Jury comprising some outstanding software engineers, visionary tech founders, and startup accelerator managers. Applications will be evaluated based on the originality of ideas, the effectiveness of innovation, market potential, scalability of an idea, technical knowledge, and capacity to develop the idea among others.”
