18 candidates for commissioner appointments that Governor Dauda Lawal submitted to the state legislature have been reviewed and approved by the Zamfara State House of Assembly.
This statement was made on Thursday in Gusau, the state capital, by Mallam Nasiru Biyabiki, the House’s public relations officer.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the state’s seventh assembly recently announced the receipt of the 18 nominees for confirmation.
“On Thursday, the Assembly’s plenary meeting in Gusau screened and approved the nominees.
“Sule Adamu, Salisu Musa, Kabiru Birnin-Magaji, Yau Haruna-Bakura, Abdurrahman Tumbido, Lawali Barau, Nasiru Ibrahim, Tasiu Musa, and Mannir Haidara were the confirmed commissioners.
“Additionally, Capt. Bala Mairiga (retired); Abdul’aziz Sani (SAN); Ahmed Yandi; Wadatau Madawaki; Aisha Anka; Bello Auta; Abdulmalik Gajam; Mahmud Muhammad; and Dr. Nafisa Maradun, among others, were named in the statement.
Prior to that, the motion on the governor’s request for the screening and confirmation of the nominees was moved by the majority leader of the House, Mallam Bello Mazawaje (APC – Tsafe East).
Mallam Aliyu Ango of the APC in Talata-Mafara South, who serves as the minority leader, seconded the motion.
Mazawaje pleaded with his colleagues to support him and agree to waive House Order XV Rule 6 of its standing rules so that the nominees could be admitted into the chamber for the screening.
Following the screening, the lawmakers unanimously approved the 18 candidates to be commissioners and State Executive Council members.
