Lawali Danhajiya, a notorious kidnapper who specialized in kidnapping residents of Gusau town, the state capital, has been apprehended by the Zamfara State Police Command.
A female informant named Umma Zubairu who worked for notorious bandit kingpin Dankarami was also detained.
The command’s spokesperson, ASP Yazid Abubakar, told reporters on Friday night at the police headquarters in Gusau that the alleged kidnapper, Danhajiya, had been terrorizing the Saminaka neighborhood in the state capital of Gusau town.
He claimed that the Police Tactical Team at Area Command Gusau took appropriate action in response to actionable intelligence, which resulted in the capture of notorious kidnapper Danhajiya.
“One Mika’ilu Ibrahim “M” of Saminaka, who was abducted at his home in the Saminaka area sometime in March 2023, categorically identified the suspect as one of the bandits during the course of the investigation.
“The suspect was also identified as the person who abducted Aina’u Aliyu “F” on June 22, 2023.
“Adding that the suspect would be charged in court once the investigation was finished, Abubakar said that the case was still being investigated.
He added that when the bandits were about to attack a police formation in the state, Umma Zubairu, a suspected female informant, was apprehended by the police.
He claims that the female informant was detained in relation to the planned attack on a police formation in the Zurmi Local Government Area’s Rukudawa village.
According to him, police officers assigned to the Zurmi Division took action after receiving reliable information that some bandits planned to attack police formations in the Zurmi Local Government Area.
The DPO assembled a team to look into the matter after receiving the information, and as a result, Umma Zubairu “F,” 35, of Rukudawa village in the state’s Zurmi Local Government Area, was detained.
In connection with the planned attack on police officers at Zurmi Division, she was detained on July 16, 2023, at around 04:30.
The suspect admitted during questioning that she had been acting as an informant for bandit lord Dan Karami.
The suspect will face criminal charges in court.
