Also arrested was a female informant, Umma Zubairu, who worked for a dreaded bandits’ kingpin known as Dankarami.
Addressing journalists on Friday night at the police headquarters in Gusau, the spokesperson for the command, ASP Yazid Abubakar, said the suspected kidnapper, Danhajiya, had been terrorising the Saminaka area in Gusau town, the state capital.
He said, “The Police Tactical Team attached to Area Command Gusau acted on actionable intelligence that led to the arrest of the notorious kidnapper, Danhajiya.
“In the course of the investigation, one Mika’ilu Ibrahim “M” of Saminaka clearly identified the suspect as one of the bandits that kidnapped him sometime in March 2023 at his residence in Saminaka area”.
“Another victim named Aina’u Aliyu “F” of Saminaka area also identified the suspect as the one who kidnapped her on 22nd June 2023”.
Abubakar stated that the case was under investigation adding that the suspect would be charged to court on completion of the investigation.
He also explained that a suspected female informant, Umma Zubairu, aged 35, was nabbed by the police when the bandits were about to attack a police formation in the state.
According to him, the female informant was arrested in connection with the planned attack on a police formation at Rukudawa village in Zurmi Local Government Area.
He said, “Police operatives attached to the Zurmi Division acted on credible information that, some group of bandits were planning to carry out an attack on police formations in Zurmi Local Government Area.
“On receiving the information, the DPO led a team to investigate the matter which resulted in the arrest of one Umma Zubairu “F” 35 yrs old of Rukudawa village in Zurmi Local Government Area of the state.
“She was arrested on 16th July 2023 at about 0430hrs in connection with the planned attack on policemen at Zurmi Division.
”During the interrogation, the suspect confessed that she has been working with bandit kingpin Dan Karami as his informant.
“The suspect will be charged to court for prosecution.”
