The Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation said it gave some residents of the Somolu Local Government Area of the state “operational grants” to “boost their failing businesses.”
The ministry said it had “become a veritable tool of social inclusion for 31 residents of Somolu Local Government Area, through the use of NG-CARES, Livelihood Support Programme of DLi 1.3 to boost their failing businesses,” according to a statement by the ministry on Monday.
“Upon completion of financial literacy training organised by MWAPA, the recipients received operational grants between N80,000 and N150,000 to enhance their businesses, which are being affected by the crippling economic downturn,” the statement said.
The ministry said beneficiaries were drawn from the Lagos State Social Register domiciled in the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget.
Meanwhile, the ministry also disclosed that it had commenced “monitoring of business owners in the Lagos Island Local Government Area who were empowered with operational grants of between N80,000 and N150,000 to boost their businesses that were crippled by the pulsating economic downturn.”
It added that “all the beneficiaries were given soft skills training on financial literacy before the cash disbursement to boost their business proficiencies for economic growth.”
