The commissioner said since the electricity matters had been transmitted to the concurrent list, the government had been working to ensure that the communities enjoy power supply for 22 hours.
Ademola-Olateju stated this in a chat with journalists at the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Akure, the state capital, on Monday.
The commissioner also disclosed that the state was planning to have its electricity commission regulate the power sector.
She said, “I know for sure that certain kilowatts of electricity will be generated by a private company, coming to Ondo State. I am bold to say, that by the time Governor Akeredolu will be leaving office in February 2025, based on our estimate, Akure and its environs will have 22 hours of power supply based on what we are expecting.
“I know, it will be a big relief for residents of this area. We are even considering our electricity regulation commission. So, everything is ready. ”
Ademola-Olateju also expressed the support of the state government to the nomination of the minister-designate from the state, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who was screened by the senate on Monday.
She said Tunji-Ojo would represent the state brilliantly at the Federal Executive Council, because of his antecedents in public service.
“We are all in support of the nomination of Bunmi Tunji-Ojo. His antecedents are what we are proud of and we know he is going to make us proud.”
