Ibrahim Garba’s appointment as the Chief Secretarial Assistant attached to the State Pension Board has been terminated by the Bauchi State Civil Service Commission due to an alleged “serious misconduct of salary and pension scam.”
This was stated in a statement issued on Tuesday in Bauchi by Mr. Saleh Umar, Information Officer for BSCSC.
The Public Service Rule (PSR) 0327(XI), which deals with matters of financial embezzlement, is alleged to have been broken by Garba’s actions.
“The commission approved the termination during a sitting of the 17th plenary session held on August 1
“A disciplinary committee of the State Pension Board found Garba guilty of swapping the account number of one Audu Mohammed, now deceased, with his own.
“This facilitated the change of pay point after the relatives of the deceased reported his death.
“Thereafter, he received an illegal pension for 55 months of N54,871 for four years and seven months which amounted to over N3 million.
He said, “These funds will be recouped from Garba’s benefits.”
He continued by saying that Alhaji Abubakar Usman, the chairman of the commission, had urged state employees to carry out their responsibilities with a fear of God.
Usman emphasized the importance of adhering to and observing the public service rule.
The state’s civil servants were given assurances by the chairman that no employee would suffer unjustly, and he added that the commission would not sit idly by as dishonest people undermined the operation.
