The curfew which the command described as a restriction, our correspondent learnt, was aimed at maintaining public safety, curbing rising criminal activities, and upholding law and order throughout the state.
The directive was issued by the state Commissioner of Police, CP Oqua Etim, in a press statement issued by the command Public Relations Officer, ASP Mahid Abubakar.
Abubakar said the curfew would ensure that individuals engaged in criminal activities were brought to justice and create an environment where criminal elements would find no refuge in Gombe.
The statement partly read, “The Commissioner of Police Gombe State Command, CP Oqua Etim, has directed all HODs, tactical commanders, and Divisional Police Officers to enforce movement restrictions across the state from midnight (12 am) to 6 am.
“This measure is necessary to maintain law and order, ensure public safety, and curb the rising cases of criminal activities in the state.In light of this, the government has put restrictions in place to curb these criminal activities and protect the citizens.
“These restrictions are aimed at ensuring that individuals engaging in criminal activities are brought to justice and ensure that the Kalare and other criminal elements have no place in Gombe.”
