A youth-led organisation that focuses on actionable and relatable sustainability in Africa, SustyVibes, says it has commenced Bioverse NG Project in collaboration with the German Embassy in Nigeria.
According to a statement, the partnership aimed to empower 200 young Nigerians with a deep understanding of biodiversity and its pivotal role in fostering a sustainable planet.
in a statement, it said, “The project underscores a steadfast commitment to comprehend and value our diverse biodiversity for its contributions to maintaining a thriving environment.
“The initiative’s goal is to enlighten participants about biodiversity’s critical role in sustaining a healthy and thriving planet.”
It added that the project encompassed a six-week virtual learning workshop, internships for three participants, regional dialogues, and a national conference.
The Founder of SustyVibes, Jennifer Uchendu, stated that, “The Bioverse NG project provides a platform to reinvigorate youth participation and leadership in biodiversity and climate change dialogues in Nigeria.
“It’s a project created by and for young people, designed to help us foster the agency, optimism, and resilience needed in times of multiple crises.”
The German Ambassador to Nigeria, Annett Günther, said, “The bioverse NG project enables us to establish connections and synergies between climate and environmental protection, along with nature conservation.
“Through this project, young individuals can learn and become agents of change within their communities. Germany remains committed to advancing a sustainable and green future, a priority of our foreign policy.”
