Last June, the university announced an increment of registration fees for undergraduate and postgraduate students of the institution with over 100 per cent increase.
A statement by the university Director of Public Affairs, Lamara Garba on Thursday night, said the extension of the registration followed appeals by Kano State Government, student bodies, and the general public.
According to Garba, the registration will now end at midnight on Sunday, September 10, 2023.
Also, the statement said the university embarked on solicitation to corporate organisations, wealthy individuals, and philanthropists for funding of indigent students as part of efforts to ensure that no student drops out over poor financial standing.
“Already, a business mogul Alhaji Auwalu Abdullahi Rano popularly called A.A Rano had assured the management of his support to the university’s indigent scholarship scheme.
“He spoke when he received the Vice Chancellor and the management of the university during a courtesy visit on him as part of mobilisation drive to provide scholarship for the less privileged in the university”, the statement said.
The statement said A.A. Rano promised to mobilise other wealthy individuals and corporate organisations to support the programme for the benefit of the teeming youths, stating that negating education to the background would compound the myriads of problems facing society.
‘’The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sagir Adamu Abbas said the visit was informed by the desire to mobilise funds to support students that find it difficult to register for financial reasons.’
