The Federal Roads Maintenance Agency has commenced work on the washouts that made the Gombe-Bauchi expressway impassable recently.
Disclosing this on Friday during a visit to the work site to supervise the work, an engineer at FERMA, Charles Avishigh, explained that the agency had monitored the challenges faced by motorists, which was occasioned by the recent flood.
Due to the recent downpour, many passengers and motorists had been subjected to difficulty following diversions that had an economic impact on residents in the North-East region.
Avishigh stated that the repairs would lessen the challenges of road users, adding that it would have an impact on economic activities in the region.
According to him, this followed the directive of the acting MD/CEO of of the agency, Godson Amos, that succour be given to the users of the road network pending the disbursement by the Federal Government to reconstruct the road.
He added, “The current work that is ongoing now is the emergency repairs of collapsed embankment and shoulder between CH.30+576 – CH.30+675. Along Gombe-Bauchi Road, Route No.85 in Gombe state.
“FERMA is restoring all federal roads by way of reconstructing all washouts along federal roads nationwide.”
