Anthony Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, hopes the British heavyweight fighter will fight Deontay Wilder, the American heavyweight boxer in his next bout.
Hearn spoke after Joshua knocked out Dillian Whyte’s late replacement, Robert Helenius, at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday.
Speaking on the chances of Joshua fighting Wilder next, Hearn told BBC Radio 5 Live, “We hope it is imminent.
“That is why he wanted the Dillian Whyte fight, it is hard for him to get up to fights like this.
“If he hits Wilder on the chin, then it is over. This is about Anthony Joshua now, it is not about pleasing others. He has given everything to British boxing.”
Meanwhile, Joshua had recently lost twice against Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk.
As a result, that opens the door for potential mega-fights with Wilder, Tyson Fury or Joe Joyce.
