Temitope’s father, Joseph, who spoke with our correspondent on Monday, said he had expended all his savings on his daughter’s medical condition, revealing that the ailment that had swollen her jaw beyond normal level started when something that appeared like a pimple around her jaw got burst.
The bricklayer said after the pimple burst, Temitope’s jaw started growing gradually, adding that no one suspected that the situation would degenerate to a level where she would be struggling to speak.
Joseph said, “A tumour is growing on my daughter’s jaw and we were told to provide money for the surgery. I have expended all my savings on her test and some treatments for her medical condition.
“It was through the test that we got to know what was wrong with her because the whole thing started when something that looked like a pimple appeared on her face.
“So, after the pimple got burst, her jaw started growing and when her condition worsened, my sister, who was concerned, came to pick her up from Edo State, and took her to the Federal Medical Centre in Asaba, Delta State where she is based. From the tests performed on my daughter, the result showed that she has a tumour.”
Joseph, while lamenting over the condition of his daughter, appealed to Nigerians to assist him in paying the cost of Temitope’s surgery for her to be relieved from the experience.
He said, “I am a bricklayer and I have spent all my savings to improve her condition as she is going through unbearable pain but the doctor said the tumour has to be removed through surgery.
“We were told the surgery expenses would cost N530,000 and we have to pay before they do the surgery. I am appealing to Nigerians for help because of my daughter’s condition.”
Our correspondent, while assessing Temitope’s pictures, provided by the family, observed that her jaw had swollen beyond the normal level.
From one of the medical documents signed by a consultant psychologist, one Dr Rapheal Onyemjoro of the FMC, Asaba, our correspondent observed that Temitope’s clinical history, as stated in the histology report, indicated that she presented at the hospital “with three years history of progressive increase of lower facial swelling.”
Onyemjoro confirmed that Temitope had visited their facility with her parents thrice and the level of her ailment needed urgent attention while appealing to the public for help.
In another document signed by one Dr Benjamin, on behalf of the Advisory Committee of the FMC, which specifies Temitope’s cost of treatment, it is observed that the cost of the surgery is pegged at N530,000.
Joseph appealed to Nigerians to send their donations to the following account details: 0248014607 Temitope Bosede Wema Bank.
