The casket bearing the late ambassador’s remains which was draped in the nation’s green and white colours as a mark of honour for his service to Nigeria, was flown into the state with a Nigerian Air Force plane.
The deceased was later buried at his family compound in Ilorin according to Islamic rites.
Laro, who was priased for his “contributions to human capital development in Nigeria and Kwara State in particular.” died on Friday night, The PUNCH reports.
The Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Mohammed Bashiru Salihu, led the funeral prayer.
The state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, was present at the funeral procession, including other attendees such as Nigeria’s Ambassador to France (Economic and Consular Affairs), Muazam Nayaya; Deputy Head of Mission, France, Tunde Mustapha, and the AbdulRazaq family of Ilorin led by the governor’s elder brother and Mutawalle of Ilorin, Dr. Alimi AbdulRazaq.
The governor, in a condolence message, described Ambassador Laro’s death as shocking, and prayed to Allah to forgive him and grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus.
