The presence of Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi at the wedding of Amir, the son of Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, at Fatiha has been cited by Senate President Godswill Akpabio as a symbol of a united Nigeria.
According to a statement by his media office, Akpabio, who spoke on Friday after the event in Kano, said that Senator Barau’s peaceful demeanor and attendance at the wedding attests to the fact that he is a man of the people.
“You can see that even Labour Party Pesidential Candidate Peter Obi and his people are here; this tells you that Nigeria will remain united as one entity,” he said.
Amir married Bilkisu Aliyu Sani Madaki, the daughter of Aliyu Sani Madaki, the Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, in a ceremony officiated by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
The Isyaka Rabiu Juma’at Mosque in Goron Dutse, Kano State, was the venue for the event.
