Big Brother Naija Reality star, Mrs. Oluwabamike Olawunmi Adenibuyan, aka BamBam, has made a case for stringent advocacy and regular information on health, especially for the adolescent ages.
The actress stated this in an exclusive chat with GATMASH NEWS during the Outreach Tour held on Wednesday at the Yello Lagos Adolescent and Youth Friendly Center, LASUTH, Ikeja.
“Today were able to educate young adolescents, attend to questions from them, and understood what they’re confused about. While some thought that cancer could prevent them from having kids, others felt that sickle cell anemia patients cannot get married. However, we were able to get more information and clarification for them as well as for the human papillomavirus (HPV).
“We also educate them on the plans of UNICEF for the 2023 National Conference on Adolescent Health, a great opportunity to directly listen to the thoughts of young people. This is highly useful in determining ways to properly guard their all-round health and get involved in their own healthcare.
Speaking on the importance of advocacy, Mrs. Adenibuyan noted that she was confident that some of their fears will be cleared.
“It’s important that we constantly put information out on human health, human reproductive health, and everything that has to do with the human being. Information on medical advancements, survival tips, etc. It’s very important that information is constantly sent out to forestall unnecessary worries, anxiety, and ignorance.
The tour was part of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) youth-focused awareness efforts in collaboration with the Lagos State AIDS Control Agency and the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) on community outreach programs with the theme: ‘YAaHNaija’ as part of its ongoing active involvement in improving adolescent health and wellbeing.
