The Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency has said plans have been concluded for the maiden edition of the Governor’s Challenge Bicycle Race to be held in mid-September 2023.
This was disclosed by the agency’s General Manager, Ifalade Oyekan, during a briefing at its headquarters at the weekend.
Oyekan said the bicycle race aimed at raising security awareness among the citizens and creating a work-and-play model to promote healthy living among the corps officers of the agency, in addition to raising consciousness of the health benefits of riding.
The 30-kilometre bicycle relay race, which will involve 288 officers from the 57 Commands of the agency across Lagos State, will be flagged off by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, according to Oyekan.
He added that the race will kick off at the Eko Atlantic City Gate, go through Eko Boulevard to Apongbon, Costain Roundabout, and through Funsho Willams Avenue to Ikorodu Road, turn off at the Ojota interchange to join the Lagos-Ibadan Express Road to the Old Tollgate, and head for the Lagos State Government Secretariat, Alausa, for the presentation of medals and prizes.
Oyekan further stated that the agency will explore opportunities to expand the race with the inclusion of other participants from other law enforcement agencies and units in Lagos State.
