Four men were on Tuesday arraigned before Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun of the Yaba Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State for allegedly assaulting and injuring one Abbass Raufu on his right shoulder with a gun over a disputed land.
The defendants, Kazeem Adenuga, Adeolu Ogunsanwo, Ahmed Adebayo and Moses Oluwasegun, were arraigned on five counts of assault, forcible entry and threat to life.
The prosecutor, Rita Momoh, said the defendants armed with weapons visited Raufu and used a gun to injure his right shoulder.
Momoh added that the offences committed contravened Section 170(1)(b) and are punishable under Sections 412, 53, 52, 173, and 50 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The charge read in part, “That you, Adenuga Kazeem Adenuga, Adeolu Ogunsanwo, Ahmed Adebayo, Moses Oluwasegun and others at large, on November 4, 2023, at Ijoyin area, Epe, Lagos, in Lagos Magisterial District did forcibly enter into landed property at Ijoyin area, Epe, Lagos, which ownership is in dispute pending before the Court and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 52 of Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty.
Following their not-guilty plea, the magistrate ordered that the defendants be kept in police custody while the police duplicate and send the file to the DPP for legal advice.
Olatunbosun adjourned the case till October 23, 2023, for DPP advice.
