The University of Calabar’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Florence Obi on Tuesday, gave her approval for Dr. Mrs. Rose Ohiama Ugbe as interim dean of the faculty of law.
The appointment is effective as of today, August 22, 2023, and will last until a substantive dean is elected for the faculty, according to a release from the university’s registrar, Gabriel Egbe.
According to the press release, Dr. Rose Ugbe, who is serving in the role of acting dean, will assume the duties and responsibilities of the position as well as oversee the faculty’s academic programs, promote a positive working relationship between faculty and students, and create an environment that is conducive to teaching and learning.
Supporting faculty members’ research endeavors and working with the administration of the university to ensure that the university’s visions are fully implemented and realized are two additional duties outlined in the release.
