The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Aderemi Adeoye, gave the warning in a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga on Friday.
Adeoye, who described the cultists as “murderers,” said they are not fit to live among decent human beings in the society, warning that nobody should call the command when the clampdown begins.
There have been constant cult-related clashes between rival cult groups around Awka and its environs.
A recent one happened a few weeks ago.was when a member of a rival group was hacked to death and his head cut off at the Eke Awka market.
The commissioner described those sponsoring cultists to kill people in the state as cowards who should cover their faces in shame.
He vowed that the Police Command would come down very hard on the “heartless” cultists who take pleasure in killing people.
He warned that no one should call him for the release of any cult member arrested during the clampdown if they don’t want to be disgraced.
“The Commissioner has ordered an all-out operation against cultists and their sponsors in the state.
“He assured the good people of Anambra State that their peace and tranquility that was punctured by the recent cult-related killings in the capital will soon be restored.
“He solicited the cooperation of all law-abiding citizens in ridding the society off the menace of cultism,” the statement added.
