President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Chiedu Ebie as the chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission board.
Presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, made this known in a statement on Tuesday announcing that the new appointments take immediate effect.
Other appointments include Dr. Samuel Ogbuku – Managing Director/CEO (Bayelsa); Boma Iyaye – Executive Director, Finance and Admin (Rivers); Victor Antai – Executive Director, Projects (Akwa-Ibom); Ifedayo Abegunde – Executive Director, Corporate Services (Ondo), and Senator Dimaro Denyanbofa – State Representative (Bayelsa).

- Chiedu Ebie Esq. hails from Agbor-Alidinma in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.
- He attended the University of Benin, from 1986 to 1991 and graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree before proceeding to the Nigeria Law School between 1991 and 1992 where he was called to the Nigerian Bar.
- He is a fan of Manchester United Football Club.
- He served as company secretary at Leaders & Company, publishers of ThisDay Newspapers. He reportedly assisted in the creation of the paper.
- Ebie practised as a corporate and commercial lawyer in Lagos.
- He became a partner with the law firms, Okonjo, Odiawa & Ebie and Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors.
- In 2015, Ebie became the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education in Delta State.
He previously spent five years as managing director of Millenium Oil & Gas Company Limited, which operates in Nigeria’s oil-rich Niger Delta region. - Ebie was suspended from the Peoples Democratic Party for suspected anti-party activities in April.
