The court remanded him, pending legal advice from the Director of Public prosecution.
The defendant who was said to always decline male requests for rides was arrested while he was trying to purchase an item at Ikotun market after he was recognised by one of his former female victims.
Jeremiah is facing a four-count bordering on conspiracy, armed robbery, stealing and assault preferred against him by the Police.
During his arraignment, the police prosecutor, Inspector Kokoye Olusegun, told the court that the defendant and others who are still at large conspired to commit the alleged offences.
He said the incident happened around July 8 and 28, 2023, at Governor’s Road, Ikotun area of Lagos State, between 10 pm and 12:23 am.
Olusegun said the defendant worked as a cab driver for the Rida App platform while driving a Toyota Camry Salon car armed himself with a knife robbed 3 victims all of whom were females.
He said the defendant alongside his accomplices who are now at large conspired to rob three female passengers who are one Halima Orulebiya, Linda Anyim, and Mercy Ekeh around the aforementioned time.
The prosecutor mentioned some of the items recovered from the defendant belonging to his victims which included an iPhone 14, iPhone 13 pro max, and Samsung Galaxy S9 plus with a total value of N1,345,000 and the total sum of N188,500 that he obtained through an online transfer and cash.
Olusegun said the defendant also inflicted injury on one of the victim’s arm using his knife.
According to him, the offences committed contravened Sections 299, 296, 297(1)(2)(a)(b) of the criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty but his plea was not taken. However, the Magistrate, Mrs Sakirat Obasa, adjourned the case till September 26, 2023 for DPP’s advice.
