A 39-year-old female tenant, OpeOluwa Agoro, allegedly bit off the right ear of her neighbour, Oloruntofunmi Folorunso, on Oremeta Street in the Igode area of the Ogun State on Sunday during an argument on the electricity bill.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the electricity distribution company servicing the area disconnected the house where both tenants live over a pending issue.
To ensure that the issue was resolved and power restored, residents were said to have saddled Folorunso with the task of collecting N500 from each tenant in the house for reconnection.
An eyewitness who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of victimisation said other tenants paid the levy except Agoro who was said to have been having troubles with Folorunso.
In the process of collecting the levy, an argument was said to have ensued between the two of them.
The eyewitness further said an argument between the two tenants ensued and that Agoro hurled insults at Folorunso.
Before other tenants could intervene, Agoro was said to have held onto Folorunso’s cloth, dragged him closer and bit off his right ear with her teeth.
While the victim was said to have been rushed to the hospital for medical care, the suspect was said to have been arrested by policemen attached to the Igode Division led by their Divisional Police Officer, SP Aremu Felicia.
Contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Odutola Omolola, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent, said the suspect had been arrested and that the investigation was ongoing.
“The suspect has been arrested. The victim is currently receiving treatment at the hospital. The investigation into the matter is ongoing,” Odutola told PUNCH Metro on Monday.
