Chairman, House Committee on Innovation, Science, and Technology, Adewumi Adeyemi, gave the advice on Friday while emphasising the potential of local resources to drive economic growth, enhance capacity building, and increase employment opportunities within the state.
Adeyemi proposed organising competitions to identify and empower individuals and businesses capable of producing innovative solutions, such as road-sweeping machines to replace traditional brooms.
Adeyemi stressed the importance of tapping into the pool of young talents in the field of Science and Technology across the state, asserting that nurturing these talents could elevate the state’s global standing.
He further expressed Governor Ademola Adeleke and the Osun 8th Assembly’s willingness to collaborate for the betterment of the state.
“To boost the economy of a state through local content, you can consider implementing technology-driven strategies such as creating digital platforms for local businesses to showcase their products and services.
“Additionally, investing in technology education and training programs can empower local residents with the skills needed to participate in the digital economy, further contributing to economic growth,” he said.
